Panasonic Energy and Sila Nanotechnologies Sign Purchase Agreement for Next-Generation Silicon Anode Materials

Recently, Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Panasonic Group in Japan, announced the signing of an agreement with Sila Nanotechnologies Inc., based in Alameda County, California ("Sila"). The agreement involves the purchase of next-generation silicon anode materials for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles.
Panasonic stated that its energy subsidiary has been actively developing technologies utilizing silicon materials for several years and has successfully mass-produced the industry's first silicon-based electric vehicle battery. To achieve the goal of increasing battery energy density from the current 800 Wh/L to 1,000 Wh/L by 2031, incorporating the next-generation silicon materials into its battery development is essential.
